Messi gave Barcelona a late point with his wonder free kick!

With a loss in the mid week Copa Del Rey game against Athletic Bilbao and having seen Real Madrid equal their record of 39 unbeaten runs in 2015/2016 season, six points clear at the top of the table and a game at hand, Barcelona needed to bounce back in style in La Liga against Villarreal but they only rallied for a 1:1 draw.

Coming back from break, Barcelona seems to be suffering from their own medicine of high pressing football as both Athletic Bilbao and Villareal applied the same tactics to a great effect against Barcelona.

First half started brightly with both sides looking for a break through but it was Barcelona Andrés Iniesta that had his first right footed shot from outside the box saved in the top centre of the goal assisted by Neymar who was dangerous throughout the game.

Villareal also had their chances to score but the game settled for a 0:0 in the half time.

Second half started and the break through came in the 49 minutes when Villarreal Nicola Sansone right-footed shot from the right side of the box found the bottom left corner of the net assisted by the man of the match Alexandre Pato following a fast break.

With Barcelona hunting for a goal, Lionel Messi again hits the post in the 73 minutes with a left footed shot from the centre of the box assisted by Andrés Iniesta.

The much needed goal from Barcelona came in the 90 minutes when Messi free kick with a left footed shot to the top left corner found the back of the net after he was foul by Samu Castillejo.

With less than a minutes to go Villarreal Jaume Costa was sent off following his second yellow card for a bad foul on Messi and the game ended 1:1
