Loyola Meralco Sparks FC signed Aris Caslib as the New Head Coach to replace Simon McMenemy

After more than two years with Loyola Meralco Sparks leading the club to their first-ever PFF National Club Championship title, Simon McMenemy bid farewell to the club as it was announced on their website and the position for a new head coach was left open.

As many fans were anxious to see the new face that will be leading the Sparks to the maiden PFL (Philippines Football League) that will commence in March 2017, the club announced on its website the appointment of Aris Caslib as the new head coach.

While his appointment is a welcome development in the Philippines top flight football, the expectation is high and the new boss was swift in recognizing the privilege and the task at hand.

“I’m honored, and at the same time, it’s a big responsibility. Loyola Meralco Sparks FC has been performing incredibly well in the UFL. They would usually be in the top three, or top four, and the challenge right now, is to bring it up further, and get that chance to play in the Asian level.”

Caslib is coming in to the club with a wealth of experience as a coach for the Philippine National Football Team at both the Senior, and Under-23 level and great reputation as one of the best coaches in the Philippines. He is a winner with eight straight NCAA titles with San Beda Red Booters. Prior to his appointment as the head coach, Caslib worked as Technical Director of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

His appointment means a lot to the local coaches with ambition and aspiration to one day stand on the technical line of a top flight football club in the country.

“We’re also grateful with the Loyola Meralco Sparks for considering a Filipino coach. It motivates all the Filipino coaches to work harder and be determined with their profession. So its a good opportunity for everyone,” he said.

Information for this report was taken from Loyola Meralco Sparks website.
